I've Found My Calling

Ever since I was a child, my mom has given me a false sense of confidence about my writing skills. This probably contributed to me spending a stupid amount of money on a domain name, realizing I hated the domain name and then spending more money on this domain name, all so I could have my own blog without having to end it with “.blogspot.com” or “.wordpress.com”. Anyway, she’s always told me I’m a great writer. I never really believed her because she’s my mom and clearly has a slanted opinion of the matter, but today I realized I  have found my calling and it does, in fact, involve writing. Here is my calling: I am destined to write positive customer testimonials for companies. I know you know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, read this one:

“I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with your customer service. I have ordered several pairs of __________and they were practically here the next day.. Wow! I have also had to do a couple of returns, and spoke to 2 different employees – Brandon and Allison – whom were both of great assistance. They were super friendly, accommodating, and professional. Can’t express enough how pleased I am with COMPANY NAME. Will definitely shop here often.”

Or try this one…

“The website is fantastic. I used it last year as well. I compared shopping on another website and gave up. This one is much much better!”

These people are decent at writing a testimonial, but I am GREAT. I have a gift. I realized this today, after I wrote my first testimonial.  It started out as an accident.  I use Skin ID, and for some reason was getting an entire line of skin care products every three weeks. My skin is not perfect, but this was a little much.  Since I pay for my own stuff now, I wasn’t thrilled about shelling out fifty bucks each time the new shipment of skin stuff came. I needed to do something about this. I was expecting to go through several phone menus as I fought and struggled to try to talk to a customer service rep. To my surprise, I waited for one minute and then immediately was on the phone with this amazingly fun woman named Karen K. She is my new best friend. Seriously. I love her.  We got the excess skin product issue sorted out, and she was so fun and perky. She even figured out a way to save me money. Since I don’t make much of it, this pleased me.

I got off the phone feeling so good about Skin ID and Karen K. that I knew something had to be done. I work in social media, so my first instinct was to Tweet them. Turns out they didn’t have a Twitter. They do have a Facebook fan page, but I don’t really need every person I went to high school with knowing a.) I still need to use an acne treatment system and b.) that I love it so much I wrote to them on their Facebook page. I’m only a fan of a few things on Facebook and I wasn’t quite ready to take that large step with Skin ID. Maybe if they send me some free stuff first. So my next step was to go on the website and send them an e-mail. If it was complicated I wasn’t going to do it, but they made it so easy I knew I had to.

I wrote and told them about how Skin ID is an amazing product and told them how quickly it cleared up my skin without drying it out. Then I told them about the greatness of Karen K. and how she sorted out my dilemma. I made sure to write in caps but didn’t go overboard with it, so they knew if they saw a word in caps it meant serious business. It was a great testimonial and I could totally imagine them using it in a commercial while Hayden Panettierre washes her face while wearing a blue t-shirt. Yeah, it was THAT good.

Just a few minutes ago, I received this e-mail back from my new friends at Skin ID.
