An Embarrassing Confession About My Musical Taste

Okay, I ned to be honest with you. You can judge me, but I need to come clean. I like Kid Rock. I know, I know. Kid Rock is an artist best left to rednecks who love the confederate flag and drinking Bud on a Harley. But…I really enjoy his music. No, this is not a joke. There’s something about him that I find appealing. He has a great, angry rocker voice. And some lovely, long locks. Come on, how could you not like songs such as “Cowboy” and “Picture”? I’m serious!

The one problem I’m struggling with as a Kid Rock fan is this: You can’t buy his music on iTunes. You can buy one or two of his songs, but for the most part, if you want your Kid Rock fix you’re going to have to get it through your local music store. This is all fine and dandy. I’m all about supporting record shops. The problem with this is the fact that it’s embarrassing to actually be seen buying a Kid Rock cd. Buying online allows you to maintain anonymity.

Okay, I’m not the proudest Kid Rock fan ever. I’m more of an “in the closet” fan. I’m not going to set “Bawitdaba” as my ringtone anytime soon. But after work I’m probably going to head over to my local cd shop and pick up his live album so I can get my “Only God Knows Why” fix. That song is soulful and well-written.

Any other Kid Rock fans lurking in the woodwork out there?
