I Don't Wanna Grow Up

I’ve been out of college for more than a year, and (not to brag) in many ways I think I’m doing pretty well for myself.  However, I have a few questions about life in the real world. Question 1: when does it become unacceptable to use plastic silverware at every meal? Because I still do that… Yeah, we have nice silverware in the house (and by nice I mean we bought it at Target) but I just can’t justify filling up the dishwasher with that silverware when I could just get a box of plastic utensils and throw them away when I’m done. Sometimes I feel like the nice homemade dinners I (rarely) make are canceled out by the fact that we eat them using cute plates…and plastic silverware. Other times…I just really do not give a crap.

My other question is this: at what age do you need to have real curtains in your apartment? Because right now our bedroom window is covered with a nice, perfectly sized fleece blanket that blocks out the sunlight in the morning. That blanket is held up by two little nails. It’s about as classy as can be. Why do we use the blanket method in place of curtains? Because we are simply too lazy/busy to put up the lovely, real curtains that my mother bought us as a housewarming present. She would be thrilled, I’m sure. At 23 that is acceptable still though, right? This is probably no longer endearing at 25 I would imagine.

I’m just trying to get a feel for these things, as being an adult is still a new concept to me. Any advice is appreciated.
