More Love for The Hunger Games

Check out my latest for The College Crush where I shower more love and adoration upon The Hunger Games. The College Crush does a series called “Movies That Won’t Eff You Up” where we highlight movies that illustrate healthy, realistic relationship situations. Well I decided to feature a “book that won’t eff you up” and my chosen book was The Hunger Games. Here’s the first part of the piece

I’d been hearing about The Hunger Games trilogy for months, but I didn’t think the books would be my thing. I’ve read the classics, don’t get me wrong. But when I’m reading for fun, I’m more into what they call “chick lit”. You know, books about friendships, relationships, making something of yourself, that type of thing. I like light-hearted books. Books about surviving a twisted game of life or death didn’t really seem like something I’d like to curl up in bed with after a long day. Finally I had heard so many positive things about The Hunger Games books that I caved and put them on my list. After I finished up my latest read, I bought the first book (aptly titled The Hunger Games). Let me tell you, that book is no joke. It is amazing. I was cranky and miserable all last week at work because I stayed up way too late reading. I haven’t done that since fourth grade when I discovered Goosebumps and The Baby-sitters Club.

Have you read the book yet? What did you think? Are you going to see the movie? The posters that are slowly getting released are making me excited to see the movie!
