I just saw this post from Thought Catalog (great site if you’re looking to add some funny to your day) and had to share it. It’s a list of New Year’s resolutions for twenty-somethings and so many of them are spot-on. A few of my favorites:
Before you status update, Tweet, Tumble or Instagram, pause and say to yourself, “is it entirely necessary that I share this morsel of thought with my entire social network?”and if the answer is not, “yes, I absolutely must,” then step away from the Internet.
I am definitely guilty of this, as are far too many of my Facebook friends. Time to be more selective about what we’re putting out there, ladies and gents.
Please stop liking the Kardashians, all of them. It’s not helping anyone, least of all the Kardashians.
Agreed. I’ll admit, I still find Khloe a teeny but amusing…but only a teeny bit. And it doesn’t take away from the fact that she comes from a family of money-grubbers. Time to move on from them and find new role models. Perhaps people who have done things with their lives and actually care about others?
Spend less than or equal to the money you earn each month.
I’m trying to do this. Especially the spend less part. I’m realizing that savings accounts are fun. Not as fun as buying everything that I want exactly when I want it, but I think over time I will find that saving money feels much better.
Volunteer once over the next 90 days. You’ll feel really good about it, and probably end up volunteering again over the next 275.
I really want to add some volunteer work to my life. There are so many worthy organizations and I think it would be a great use of time.
Back up your entire online life onto an external hard drive, especially your photos.
Just did this. I sleep easier at night.
If you’re still blacking out regularly, you should stop.
True. It’s not cute anymore. Also, it probably can’t be easy to balance a job and a college-style drinking schedule.
