When I was in 8th grade, I learned how to make a treat called Peanut Butter Chews. Trust me, they’re as amazing as they sound. All fully of gooey peanut butter and cornflakes and whatnot. Yum. I swear that basically every day since I brought home my first plate of chews, my dad has begged me to make them again.
I ended up rediscovering the recipe online not that long ago, and made a batch for my pops for Father’s Day. He was thrilled. No tie or lawnmower or set of golf balls (he doesn’t golf anyway) could have made him as content as some freshly-prepared peanut butter chews did. If you’re looking to impress your boyfriend’s mom, become the favorite at work, or thank your roommate for dealing with that disgusting spider, make some of these guys.
This is the recipe I used. It’s so simple. All you need is white sugar, light corn syrup, peanut butter, and cornflakes. Heat up the corn syrup and sugar until it’s boiling, mix in the PB, then add in the cornflakes while it’s still hot. You’ll end up with little globs of deliciousness like this:
Inexpensive and easy to make and so amazing? Yes please. You can thank my 8th grade Home Ec. teacher (Home and Career skills, actually) for passing along this recipe to me.
