I’m not one for counting calories and think that doing so promotes obsessive, unhealthy behavior. But with that said, I’d been looking for a way to get a better sense of what I eat during the day. When you’re working from home like I do it’s easy to mindlessly snack all day since your pantry is right in front of you. In the past I’d tried other apps like Daily Burn and Lose It, but quickly got frustrated with them. I have no patience, I’ll admit. But this means that if I can’t quickly enter my meal, I’m not doing it. I’m not going to take the time to enter chicken then pasta then broccoli separately, trying to come up with the creation I just had at dinner.
A few days ago I downloaded a new app called My Fitness Pal, and I’m hooked. It’s really easy to use and has so many different food options. Whether you bought something at the grocery store, ordered it at a restaurant, or made it yourself, it’s easy to quickly put the entire meal into the system and get an accurate calorie count. No more adding in items ingredient by ingredient. It’s also allows you to easily customize your profile based on your current height and weight, letting you set a reasonable daily calorie limit. The app makes it easy to add in your daily exercise too. I actually know someone who relied solely on My Fitness Pal to help her lose 40 pounds. She swears by it, and I can see why.
If you want a way to keep yourself on track, this is definitely the app I’d suggest.
