My Must-Read Book of the Week: Bethenny Frankel's Skinnygirl Solutions

After weeks of waiting, my copy of Bethenny Frankel’s new book, Skinnygirl Solutions, finally arrived! The book lives up to the high standards set by my version of the Bible, which is her book called A Place of Yes. Unlike A Place of Yes though, this book is more about steps you can take to simplify and enhance your daily life. Where A Place of Yes tends to focus more on the big picture (how to improve your relationships, getting a career going, etc.) Skinnygirl Solutions tells you how to stop wasting time during the day or how to throw a party on a budget. Also, there’s a really helpful chapter on eating and dieting, which has totally shifted the way I think about food. We tend to beat ourselves up about food, but the book explains why you shouldn’t focus on “good days” and “bad days,” nor should you view exercise as punishment. If you’re struggling with constant dieting or are obsessing over calorie counting, you’ll want to read this.

The book itself is set up in a really smart way. Each chapter is short and full of lists, so it’s easy to read. It also makes it easy to skim over the parts that don’t interest you as much (getting kids to eat well, for example) in order to get to the parts you really care about. It’s got Bethenny’s signature “tell it like it is” voice that I love, while also providing really helpful tips that you can start using today. If you’ve loved her other stuff (or just her in general) then check it out! Ignore the super ’90s book cover, and trust me when I say it’s a great purchase.
