I can’t believe we’re almost in 2014! No matter what your plans are tonight, remember that New Year’s Eve is the most overrated holiday of all time. You’ll think you’re going to dress up, wear all black, have a great manicure, smooch a Clooney look alike at midnight, and have fun with every single friend you’ve made in your lifetime. In reality, you’ll pay $90 bucks for a ticket, get spilled on by some drunken fool, lose track of half your friends by the time the night’s over, and freeze as you wait for a cab. And that’s okay. It’s just part of the game. Just have fun with the people you love, and don’t worry about making the night like a scene out of Gossip Girl. Any holiday where Ryan Seacreest is at the forefront can’t be taken seriously anyway, you know?
As far as resolutions go, let’s skip the “I’m going to work out!” this year. Instead, think about some small yet manageable positive changes you can make. Maybe your goal is to eat better, great. But don’t force yourself to try to go from couch potato to working out every day. It’s just not realistic and you’re setting yourself up to fail. How about calling a friend to catch up weekly? Mine is going to be to stop trying to control everything and to give myself a break. It’s easy to set crazy expectations for yourself and wind up getting stressed as a result. The whole “go with the flow” thing isn’t really in my nature, but I’m going to try to embrace it more this year.
Whatever you do and wherever you are, have an amazing New Year’s Eve! Thank you for reading this blog!
